Early Blooms: Mind
We offer a six-week programme of hypnotherapy sessions specifically designed to address the concerns of children. These programmes are appropriate for 7-12 year olds and can be run for groups of up to 15 children or for individual children.
The programmes use hypnotherapy techniques in the accessible form of story-telling to encourage children to relax and overcome their fears and worries.
Children are first introduced to the benefits of relaxation, a skill that allows greater control over mind and body and enhances the ability to focus. They are then taught to become aware of their imaginations and the power of their thoughts on their behaviour and emotions. The programmes address issues such as:
• Relaxation
• Self-confidence & self-belief
• Positive attitude
• Anxiety & fears
• Independence
• Family relationships
• Friendship
• Focus & concentration
• School performance (including tests)
• Creativity
This programme is designed to help children overcome any fears or problems they are experiencing and to develop inner resources that allow them to grow as happy and well-adjusted individuals.
We also see children from the age of 7 upwards for individual hypnotherapy sessions.
The benefits of hypnotherapy for children were endorsed at the 2007 British Psychological Society’s Division of Educational and Child Psychology Annual Conference.
A recent innovative project working with students in Hampshire combined applied psychology with hypnotherapy to address issues of depression and anxiety. Hypnotherapy was found to be the technique to produce the greatest gains, in particular with reductions in feelings of hopelessness and an improvement in self-esteem. Longer- term improvements were found and there was also a high level of parent satisfaction, with one parent commenting "thank you for giving me my son back."
